Academic style

Academic English is a distinct language, and one you’re expected to write in at university. Understand how to identify, create and improve your academic style.

English in written academic tasks has a distinctive style; it is objective, formal and precise.

As a university student, you are expected to express your findings and arguments in this ‘academic style’.

Academic style is more than just a writing convention – it can also help you to think more logically and clearly as you work on an assignment and build your argument.
