Student Faculty feedback

One Student Partner co-developed and co-facilitated 3 Orientation sessions for BSci students over two semesters, reaching around 800 students. They also brought a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) perspective to a Critical thinking workshop.

Orientation and in-semester workshops

In 2021, Student Partners were supported to collaborate on the design and delivery of 35 Orientation and in-semester workshops. Attendees commented that they enjoyed receiving tips from both an adviser and a student.

"It's been a pleasure to be part of this wonderful program, through which I have made many new friendships, acquired important soft skills, and established my confidence for career development. Among all the projects I was engaged in, the Aussie English workshop was my favourite, because it was really interesting to learn some slang that I can use with my Australian friends and thus benefit from networking and cultural exchange. On top of that, I have made friends with other students from this funny workshop. The Aussie English workshop also inspired me to think of possible club events I could organise in the future to help international students understand Australia more. Once again, I was so delighted to join this program, and I would also like to express my gratitude to the academic skills team and other students for their marvellous contribution. I believe our projects will bring significant benefits to the UniMelb students."

Welcome to Melbourne webinar

Student Partners shared their perspectives on being a student at the University of Melbourne at a virtual event for prospective/commencing international students.

“This has been one of the most enriching experiences for me as I got to participate as a Student Partner in a webinar which had over 800 attendees.  Having attended this webinar as an incoming international student and to now being a panellist made me realise how much I have grown in the past two and a half years at the university. The webinar helped me to make an impact on the lives of incoming students in terms of helping them navigate their way into the university and a testimonial to it was that the students started to connect with me on LinkedIn. It has been a life-changing experience for me as I realised how proud one feels when they help people in whatever way they can.”
