Although the works in the exhibition Can you hear my voice? do not depict specific incidents pertaining to India and Pakistan’s relationship since gaining independence from British rule in 1947, they emerged from a context in which the contestation of borders and ownership is part of daily life. Whilst intensely localised, these reverberations of colonisation have global resonance.
