A curation of five films shining a light on the Mediterranean diaspora in Melbourne, ‘Australitaliano’ is an examination of the tribulations and assimilation of Italian, Greek and other European-Australian cultures in the city they shaped so much.

Centred around acclaimed director Ana Kokkinos’ award winning graduate film ANTAMOSI, Andrew’s selection of films illuminates the struggles and triumphs of communities in flux. From uplifting musicals about an Italian supermarket worker to immaculately shot dramas set in a Smith Street pawn broker, ‘Australitaliano’ showcases an evolving community in a rapidly changing city, whose traditions have both challenged and influenced life in the city we call home.
