The Parkville Sounds Music Festival is here! Hear from a range of Southbank bands while you grab some free food from our food trucks. Relax, take in the music and enjoy your campus! Line up includes:

  • Emily Victoria writes music which sounds full and rich, evoking an Australian sound, that transports the listener to a lovely place elsewhere. Her music draws from singer-songwriter groups like 'The Go-Betweens' with lyrics that are personalised, honest and embody an Australian landscape. For this performance, Emily will sing songs and share stories about the making of her upcoming album 'Violets and Roses' to be released later this year. You can follow Emily's progress on her Instagram @emilyvictoria2303
  • Drip Irrigation is a sextet of Jazz players from across the country, from Tasmania to Wagga Wagga and everywhere in-between. First Year students Angus McKean, Maeve Grieve, Luka Cordedda, Luca Acaro, Luke Bonnici and Jack Doughty take jazz tunes which were once thought over-played, and re-vamp them for the new generations. Welcome to the roaring twenties
  • Chroma-kei - The Return of Superflat Clubpop (DJ Set) pays homage to Japan’s history of electronic, lounge, bossa nova, breakbeat and hip-hop fusions, bringing to life a unique perspective of clubpop music that only an outsider can provide. His previous work with netlabels Maltine and Magic Yume, including a collaboration with Sarah from Kero Kero Bonito, gives weight to Chroma-kei’s approach as a digital native electronic musician.
  • Queen Lilac Lily Jones (aka Queen Lilac) performs original sings influenced by the styles of RNB and soul.
  • Jon Dark is a queer exploration of faith, gender, and death through an electro-acoustic musical texture, incorporating dance, costume, makeup, and visual art. Heavily inspired by the life of Joan of Arc, Jon explores what it means to exist outside of binary gender expectations, through a historical, fantastical, and contemporary lens
  • Indy and Nathan is a dynamic and ethereal duo with unique interpretations of pre-existing songs, as well as a vast repertoire of their own works. Utilising vocals, piano and strings, they cultivate a pop energy entwined with an ambient sensibility, their sets curated to inspire and thought-provoke.
