SCHEMATIC DESIGN
The Project is currently in the schematic design phase, which builds upon the ideas developed in concept design to confirm floor plan and facility requirements. The schematic design for the Precinct is around 80% complete and is on schedule to be finalised by December 2018.

CONCEPT DESIGN
Concept design is the early stage of the design process which outlines the function and form the new Precinct will take. Extensive collaboration with students through co-creation has informed this process to ensure the needs and expectations of its users were integrated into the design.

MASTER PLANNING
An Urban Design Framework (UDF), a Feasibility Study and a detailed design of Early and Enabling works taking place in 2017 have been developed for the Precinct. The UDF worked to understand the existing site limitations and to identify opportunities and challenges in upgrading existing Precinct infrastructure and developing new building fabric. The Feasibility Study ensured the major intervention posed in the UDF of lowering the ground plane was feasible.
Landscape master planning has been completed that considers the site and context of existing trees and landscape – including City of Melbourne interfaces such as Swanston Street and Grattan Street – and the need for activated outdoor and retail space and green space. The landscape master plan will also include Indigenous and sustainable design principles that will be co-created with our students.
