Building access

We are in the process of reopening our buildings and facilities. Buildings might require swipe card access for contact tracing purposes, so be sure to always keep your student card on you. Some buildings may not be open yet.

You must scan the QR codes that you see in each space you enter on campus. The more QR codes you scan, the more accurately we will be able to conduct contact tracing if we need to.

  • Which buildings are open on Parkville campus?

From 22 February the following buildings will be 'open' between 7am and 7pm, and for timetabled classes outside these hours. You don't need a swipe card to access the building during these times, but will still need to use it for any restricted access areas within the buildings.

Other buildings are 'operational' requiring swipe card access at all times.

Whether a building is ‘open’ or ‘operational' you should still scan QR codes whenever you enter a building or individual space that displays one and maintain a record of your movements for contact tracing purposes.

Study spaces

If a University building is open, then informal studies spaces within that building will also be open to students. A density cap of 2m2 per person will apply to student study spaces which are open to the public (such as those in foyer areas and around entrances). There will be no density cap to informal study spaces which are not open to the public. It is recommended that 1.5 metres distance is maintained between people. Remember to scan into spaces using QR codes and tap ‘check out’ on your mobile device when you leave again.

Check Library advice for study spaces in our libraries.

On-campus events

We're committed to returning events and activities to our campuses in a COVIDSafe way, and in line with government restrictions and guidelines.

All student-hosted events require a sponsor – either an affiliate (eg UMSU, GSA, MUSport), or an academic division or college. The sponsor is the overarching authority for the event and all activities would be held under the auspices of their COVIDSafe Plan.

If you want to host an event but you're not affiliated with a club, union (eg UMSU, GSA, MUSport) or college, you need Faculty sponsorship and approval before your event can proceed. Contact Stop 1 to get the details of your Faculty representative.
