University of Melbourne Overseas Subject (UMOS) are single subjects offered by our faculties which are taught overseas.

The University of Melbourne has an increasing number of single subjects available in different faculties which are partly or wholly taught overseas.

If the degree you are enrolled in makes it difficult to study overseas, or if you are just not sure about undertaking a semester abroad, you could be eligible to undertake one or more UMOS as part of a major or as a breadth subject.

Important information

The University of Melbourne offers a wide range of scholarships to support students to study overseas. Melbourne Mobility Awards provide funding to eligible students undertaking overseas study as part of their degree. Find out more and apply at Scholarships.

The process

The process for enrolling in each subject is outlined on the subject page in the University Handbook.

Complete the Online Mobility Registration once you are enrolled into the subject, to ensure your travel is registered with the University. This should be completed at least six weeks before your departure from Melbourne.

If required, register for the University's free travel insurance prior to your departure from Melbourne.
