We hope you had an unforgettable experience studying overseas. Now it's time to transfer your credit points to your University of Melbourne degree.
Transfer your credit to your University of Melbourne degree
In order to get credit for the study you completed overseas, the University of Melbourne needs to receive a transcript from your host institution listing the results for the subjects you completed.
Some host institutions will send this transcript to the University of Melbourne automatically at the end of your overseas study or at the end of the academic year. However, there are some universities that require you to order the transcript yourself before you complete your overseas study. It is important you keep your transcript safe for future reference, whether it be further study, scholarship applications or job interviews.
- If you receive the transcript directly: If you have received a hard-copy of the transcript from your host institution, please scan it and send a digital copy to us via this link.
If you are given a digital copy of your transcript or can request one from your host institution, please send it to us via this link.
- If it is sent to the University of Melbourne: If we receive your transcript, we'll forward a digital copy to you.
If your transcript was sent as a hard-copy, it will also be available for you to collect once we resume in-person services at STOP1. Until then, as the University has transitioned to a 'virtual campus' with limited physical access, paper copies of documents will not be available for you to collect, to receive by standard mail or by International or Domestic courier.
Once we have the transcript loaded into your file, we will begin the process of transferring the appropriate credit points. Credit is only given for successfully completed subjects that were approved by the University of Melbourne on your overseas study plan. Any failed subjects will not carry credit.
The time it takes to receive transcripts from your host institution can vary. Don’t worry if others have received theirs before you.
Completed your final subject of your degree while overseas?
Graduation or further study at a graduate or honours level can only occur once transcripts have been received. This can mean that your graduation ceremony may be later than you had anticipated. Information about how to organise your graduation can be found on our Graduations page. Similarly, if you are applying for further study, delays with transcripts arriving from your host institution may also cause delays with these plans.
Will my marks be transferred?
While you will receive credit points, there is no transfer of specific marks (only a pass grade) from study completed overseas, except for Honours students. If you are concerned about the implications this will have on future study, please contact Stop 1.

If you have successfully completed a prerequisite or corequisite while overseas, you will need to request a requisite waiver.
