LMS assignments

Here are some tips and advice for sitting your LMS assignment exam.

Finding your LMS assignment exam

Log into the LMS and look at your calendar. Your LMS assignment exam will be entered on your calendar, and will include three pieces of information you should note:

  • Not available until / Locked until: This is the time and date when you will have access to your exam.
  • Due: This is the date and time your exam is due. You can submit your exam up to 30 minutes after the due date and time. However, if you submit your exam after the due date and time it will be marked as late.

You will only have access to your exam during the dates and times listed in your exam entry. You can also view your entire exam timetable, including exams you might have in other subjects, by visiting my.unimelb.

Completing your LMS assignment exam

Log into the LMS. Ensure that your personal calendar is visible in the LMS. If it isn't visible, in the Calendar view, click the box next to your name to toggle this view. The link to your exam will be in your calendar entry. If you start the exam assignment late, you will have less time to complete the exam.

Submitting your LMS assignment exam

You will have access to your exam for the entire duration of the ‘Available’ time listed on your exam entry. If you submit your exam after the due date and time, but before it becomes unavailable (30 minutes after the due date), your exam will be marked as late.

When you have successfully submitted the exam, the assignment interface will display the date and time of your submission. You can download your submission if you want a copy for your record.

You can submit your LMS assignment exam as many times as your subject coordinator has allowed, up until the due date. The number of allowed attempts is displayed below the due date, at the top of the assignment. The number of attempts you have already submitted is also displayed in the assignment details area at the top of the page.

If you submit your exam after the due date and time, it will be marked as late. Your exam will be available for 30 minutes after the due date and time to allow you to submit it late if you need. Once this additional 30 minutes has passed, you will no longer be able to access your exam in the LMS.

When you have successfully submitted the exam, the assignment interface will display the date and time of your submission. You can download your submission for review.

Please note: You will not receive an email confirming your assignment submission.

Troubleshooting

If you lose internet connection during the exam, you can reconnect to the LMS and submit the exam as long as the 'available until' time and date has not passed. If the due date has passed your exam will be marked as late.
