Regalia and Photography Services on campus in December 2021

A regalia and photography service will be available on the Parkville campus from December 9 to 15, 2021. This is a great opportunity to come to campus, wear your academic regalia and have professional photographs taken as a lasting memory of your time at the University. You are also welcome to enjoy some time and revisit your favourite campus corners for a few extra selfies. The online bookings service will open on Friday 19 November 2021.

How will it work?

Students who have graduated in 2020 or by December 8, 2021 will be eligible to book in to visit campus, wear academic regalia and have professional photographs taken. This service will be located at Wilson Hall on the Parkville Campus. Bookings must be made in advance.

When will it be open?

Bookings will be available between 10am and 4pm on the following dates:

  • Thursday 9 December
  • Friday 10 December
  • Saturday 11 December
  • Monday 13 December
  • Tuesday 14 December
  • Wednesday 15 December

How much will it cost?

The cost to hire your regalia is $80, payable when you book your place. The booking fee for professional photographs is $25, which includes a free “social media moment” photograph. Any other photographs you purchase are an additional cost you will pay on the day.

Can I bring Family/Friends?

Yes, you can bring up to 4 people with you to your photography session in Wilson Hall. There is no cost for family and friends attending your photography session.

Do we need to be vaccinated?

Yes. Visitors to University of Melbourne campuses aged 12 years, 2 months and over must be fully vaccinated and carry evidence of their vaccination status (or valid exemption) while on campus. You will be required to check in using the QR code and present your evidence of vaccination status as you enter Wilson Hall. For more information visit the University’s Vaccination website.

Where do I collect and return my regalia? How long can I keep it for?

You will collect your regalia when you arrive at Wilson Hall. Regalia returns will close at 6.00pm daily.

How do I make a booking?

The online bookings service will open on 19 November 2021. Eligible students will be emailed when the service opens.  Bookings will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, until all available places are taken.

Do I have to book in advance?

Yes you do need to make a booking in advance. This will assist our regalia partner in ensuring we have the right regalia for you on the day, and so we can manage the public health requirements in place at the time.

Can I book into any session or are there particular sessions reserved for each Academic Division?

You can book into any available session. This is to provide as much opportunity as possible for interested graduates to find a time that suits them.

Who will take the professional photographs?

Silver Rose Photography is the University’s graduation photography partner.

Can I buy graduation merchandise while I’m on campus?

You can also purchase graduation frames, plaques and other graduation merchandise through Reed Graduations, who are also the University’s regalia partner.

Can I still attend a graduation ceremony in 2022?

Yes you can. This service is optional and if you are eligible, you will still receive a graduation invitation to attend an in-person ceremony in March 2022.

Is the professional photography compulsory?

No, professional photography is optional. However, the price of regalia hire whether or not you choose to do the professional photography is $80.

Can I bring my own regalia?

No. Graduates wishing to make a booking will be required to hire their regalia from the University’s regalia partner.

Can I bring extra guests to campus?

Whilst a maximum of 4 guests can participate in the professional photography with you inside Wilson Hall, there is no capacity limit outdoors. However, please be mindful that as part of our ongoing response to the pandemic, to minimise the risk of COVID 19 to our community, COVID 19 vaccination (or a valid exemption) is now a requirement for anyone aged 12 years, 2 months and over attending our campuses or undertaking University activities in third-party or public settings. I haven’t yet officially completed my course, can I still make a booking?

Yes, you can still make a booking if you are on track to complete your degree this semester. However if your official course conferral has not taken place by December 8 2021, we will cancel your booking and a refund will be issued.

What COVID Safe measures are being taken?

We will be working very closely with our regalia and photography partners to provide a COVID Safe environment for everyone.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our community is of the utmost importance. As part of our ongoing response to the pandemic, to minimise the risk of COVID-19 to our community, COVID-19 vaccination (or a valid exemption) is now a requirement for anyone attending our campuses.
