Get your application approved

Have you already started an application? Log back in

After you've submitted your application, the University of Melbourne will assess it for approval. Your application must be approved for you to receive credit for your overseas study.

How and when your application is processed

The application processing time is usually 10-15 business days. Application processing usually commences after the application deadline. In some cases, completed applications will be processed on a rolling basis prior to the program deadline. When we assess your application, we will be reviewing your:

  • Eligibility for your selected program
  • Academic status
  • Suitability of you proposed overseas study plan to your degree.

Once a decision is reached, we will contact you via email to inform you of your outcome and next steps.

If you have applied for a New Colombo Plan Grant as part of your University of Melbourne short-term program application, this will be assessed after the application deadline for your selected program. You may receive approval to participate in your short-term program before the application deadline, but you will only receive an outcome of your NCP Grant application after the deadline has passed.

What you need to do

1. Wait for approval of all components

Both your application and overseas study plan must be approved for your application to be successful. You may receive email notification that your study plan has been recommended for credit, however you will need to wait to receive communication from the Global Learning team that your whole application has been approved.

2. Regularly check for updates

Regularly check your University email for any activity updates from your overseas study planner. You can log into your overseas study planner and action any outstanding conditions flagged. The sooner you do this, the sooner your application can be approved.

3. Address any approval conditions

If you are granted conditional approval, the conditions will be stated in your overseas study plan. Usually these conditions must be met prior to your departure as they relate to your eligibility for overseas study.

Overseas Study Planner vs Study Plan

Remember to distinguish between your Overseas Study Planner (the tool to submit and manage approval of subjects for your overseas study) and your Study Plan (the tool to enrol in subjects at the University of Melbourne).
