Ceremony schedule

Graduate registration and regalia collection
11.30am–1.40pm
  • The regalia collection opens two and a half hours before ceremony
  • The regalia collection marquee is located outside the Royal Exhibition Building. It's near the Nicholson street entry
  • You will need to scan your graduate ticket for collection
  • Photography studios will also be open during this time
    • They are located inside the Royal Exhibition Building
    • Use the Nicholson street entrance.
Graduate and guest seating opens
1.15pm
  • The graduate entrance opens for graduates
  • The Nicholson street and Rathdowne street doors open for guest seating
  • Please note that guest seating is not allocated.
1.20–1.25pm
  • You must check in at the briefing location by this time
  • You will receive details about the briefing location by email before the ceremony date.
PhD/higher doctoral degree recipient briefing
1.30pm
  • Our protocol team will explain the Academic Procession, how you will receive your degree and the recessional.
Final time for graduates to arrive and be included in the Academic Procession
1.40pm
  • If you arrive late, you may be removed from the ceremony
  • Photography studios close at this time
    • This service will close for the duration of the ceremony
    • They will reopen after the ceremony.
Academic Procession
1.45pm
  • Our protocol team will place you in order for the Academic Procession.
Ceremony commences
2.00pm
  • The ceremony will run for approximately two hours
  • Graduates must remain in their allocated seat for the duration of the event.

Once ceremony concludes

  • Post-event function begins
  • Refreshments will be served on the gallery level (access via stairs or lift)
  • Duration one hour.

All hired regalia to be returned

  • Hired regalia should be returned to the location from which it was collected
  • No later than two hours after the ceremony.
