Ceremony schedule

Graduate registration and regalia collection

3.30–5.40pm
- The regalia collection opens two and a half hours before ceremony
- Follow signage to the regalia collection area at the Royal Exhibition Building
- You will need to scan your graduate ticket for collection
- The Royal Exhibition Building is open to graduates and guests
- Photography studios will also be open during this time
- Graduates and guests must scan their seat tickets at the door.

Graduate and guest seating opens

5.15pm
- The graduate wing opens so that graduates can arrive and be included in the Academic Procession
- The guest wings open for guests to be seated
- Please note that seating is not allocated, seats are given to guests as they arrive.

5.20–5.25pm
- PhD/higher doctoral degree recipients must check in at the briefing location by 5.25pm
- You will receive details about the briefing location by email before the ceremony date.

5.30pm
- Our protocol team will explain the Academic Procession, how you will receive your degree and the recessional.

Final time for graduates to arrive and be included in the Academic Procession

5.40pm
- Please aim to be early, it is essential that you are included in the PhD briefing.

Academic Procession

5.45pm
- Our protocol team will place all PhD/higher doctoral degree recipients in order for the Academic Procession.

Ceremony commences

6.00pm
- The academic procession commences
- The ceremony will run for approximately two hours.
Once ceremony concludes
- Post-event function begins
- Refreshments will be served on the gallery level (access via stairs or lift)
- Duration one hour.
All hired regalia to be returned
- Hired regalia should be returned to the location from which it was collected
- No later than two hours after the ceremony.
