As an online student, it’s important that you‘re aware of which subjects you‘re required to take and their availability across the six online terms.
Important steps:
- Check out the Handbook. Browse detailed subject information and plan your course using the University‘s Handbook. Before you begin, you may like to check out the different types of subjects FAQ
- Be sure to understand which core subjects you‘re required to take
- Keep your options open by understanding any prerequisites for subjects you might like to study in future study periods or years
- Be clear which subjects are available in each online term.

Creating your study plan
Login to my.unimelb to access your study plan. You will need to use this to complete your subject enrolment for the year. To find out more about your Study Plan, check out our helpful understanding the study plan and subject enrolment FAQ.
Enrol in your subjects
Once you've decided which subjects to take, you'll need to enrol in them via my.unimelb.
How do I enrol in subjects?
Have your subject options from the Handbook in front of you when enrolling so you can see the course structure.

Quick Tip: Be sure to check the census date when you enrol. This is the date by which you can make changes to the subjects you’re enrolled in without incurring a fee. Typically, census for online terms will be Friday of week 2. You can review census dates by checking the subject entry in the Handbook.
