Student surveys are one of the ways the university engages students to give feedback about their university experience. Surveys offer a confidential platform to express yourself, ensuring your voice is heard. Your feedback is valuable and helps to shape your university environment.
What surveys will I be asked to complete?
Throughout your university journey, you may be asked to provide feedback about your experience in and outside of the learning environment. In addition to the major surveys shown on this page, you may be asked to opt in, or complete other surveys during your time at the University.
Some of the ways that we will ask for your feedback include:
Student Learning Surveys
Student Learning Surveys play a pivotal role in the University’s efforts to enhance teaching quality and develop subjects. They include the End of Subject Survey and the Mid Subject Survey. The feedback you provide through these surveys can inform improvements to the subject for future deliveries.
University Survey of Student Experience (USSE)
The USSE runs four times per year and the feedback we gather through this survey provides the leading indicator of the student experience across the University.
Quality Indicators of Learning and Teaching (QILT)
The University takes part in various government-approved surveys that cover your entire journey with us, from day one to landing your dream job. These surveys form the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT), managed by the Social Research Centre.
Why should I complete a student survey?
Completing surveys is a simple but powerful way to shape your university journey. Your feedback guides us in making important improvements that enhance the student experience. Whether it’s about campus facilities, your subjects, or your overall time here, sharing your thoughts helps us make positive changes.
What happens to the results?
At the University of Melbourne, we’re committed to making your experience the best it can be. Your feedback from surveys helps us shape where we’re headed as a university. We listen carefully to understand what you need, so together, we can create an even better university experience for you.
