Get involved with your student community! The Melbourne Peer Mentor Program (MPMP) is for all first semester undergraduates.
My mentor Anushka was so kind and generous. She really helped us make instant connections and feel super excited to get started with our Bachelor of Music degree. Anonymous, Bachelor of Music
You’ll be matched with other new students from your degree and a student Peer Mentor who will lead your MPMP sessions. Together, you’ll explore the University and what it has to offer.
It’s a great way to familiarise yourself with life on campus and meet other students in your degree!
As a commencing undergraduate student, you’re automatically part of the program. Attend all five sessions to make the most of your first semester.

What to expect
» Welcome to MPMP
Shortly after you accept your offer, you’ll receive your official MPMP welcome via email.
» Submit your preferences
We’ll let you know via email when it’s time to submit your preferences for MPMP! Here you’ll let us know what times work best for you, so we can avoid any clashes with your studies and match you with the right group. MPMP will appear as "MPMP00101" in your timetable once preferencing opens, you don’t need to enrol in it!
» The matching happens
We will now match you with other students from your degree to form your MPMP group! Our matching process is based on submitted preferences and timetable availability.
» Group details announced
Just before semester starts, you’ll receive an email with details of your MPMP group. You can then login to the 'Peer Mentoring' section of my.unimelb to see your group members and schedule for your five MPMP sessions.
» Start connecting
Introduce yourself and start connecting right away using Chatter (via the Peer Mentoring 'My Group' section of my.unimelb). Take note of when your first session is scheduled!
Tip
During the semester, if you're running late or can’t attend a session, please let your Peer Mentor know via Chatter!
» Attend your MPMP sessions!
Now all that’s left to do is turn up and have fun! If you’re commencing in February, your first session will be during Orientation week. If you’re commencing in July, your first session will be during Week 1.
Keep going
Don’t forget to attend sessions 2–5! MPMP is a great opportunity to make new connections, ask for advice from your Peer Mentors, bring along any questions you have about uni life, and share what’s on your mind.
» Need help? Got questions?
If you encounter any issues or have a clash in your schedule, don’t hesitate to get in contact with your Faculty team.
