What to do if you didn’t enter class preferences

How to create your class timetable during the review and adjust period.

About missing the preference entry period

You may have missed the preference entry deadline for one of the following reasons:

  • You were admitted to your course after the preference entry period closed
  • You enrolled in subjects or changed your enrolment during the review and adjust period (allow up to 24 hours after enrolling for subjects to appear in MyTimetable)
  • You did not to enter class preferences.

Whatever the reason, you can create your timetable by selecting classes in the review and adjust period.

How to add classes during review and adjust period

    1. Select a class type from the enrolment list on the left-hand side panel.
    2. Click Select to allocate yourself to a class. An allocation success message will appear to confirm your selection.
    3. View your classes on the right-hand panel under all or not allocated.
    4. Click on a class to see available times in the calendar view.
    5. If multiple times are available, select your preferred one. If the class you want or all classes are full, see 'how to request to join a full class'.
    6. Repeat steps o two–five until all class types for your enrolled subjects are allocated.
    7. Click save to finish.

    You won't be be able to add classes if:

    • There is an alert showing "No options available". This means your subject is closed for changes,
    • It appears under the heading read only. This means the subject can't be updated.

    If this is the case and you need to add a class, please submit a Timetable Assistance Form (TAF).

  • On mobile, the Allocation Pane appears at the bottom of the screen. The Allocations pane shows allocated classes and any needed actions.

    1. Look for the exclamation icons for actions required
    2. Expand the allocation pane by tapping the tick and line icon
    3. Tap on the subject codes to expand and view the classes listed
    4. Tap subject codes to view classes listed
    5. Under select classes, tap your preferred class to allocate it.

    Allocate classes using Timetable Grid

    1. Minimise the allocations pane (arrow in the middle) to return to the grid
    2. Available time slots appear as dotted lines
    3. Unavailable slots appear as blocks with diagonal lines
    4. Allocated classes appear as solid blocks
    5. If multiple options exist for a time slot, a pop-up will guide you to the allocation pane to choose a class time
    6. Tap the X icon on the allocation pane to remove it.

    Change or deallocate a class

    1. Click the class you want to change or deallocate on the grid
    2. Expand by clicking the diagonal two-way arrow in the top left corner
    3. Pop-up will show current class and alternate classes
    4. Click Join class to select an alternative or Leave class to deallocate.

How to create a timetable for workflow subjects

To create your class timetable for this group, you need to add multiple class types to your class timetable.

  1. Click on your dashboard in the top left.
  2. Look for workflow subjects under action required. These will have a workflow icon (an arrow with a fork) and a tooltip confirming it’s part of a workflow.
  3. Click the symbol and the workflow preference summary will pop up.
  4. Select Enter new preferences.
  5. To enter your first preference for all subjects and activity groups.
  6. Repeat the process again for a total of numbers of preferences required.
  7. You will be shown a review at the end. You can also redo this process later if you wish to change your preferences.

If an activity includes all its classes as a combination:

  • You only need to choose one primary class.
  • All related classes will be automatically displayed for you, so you won’t need to make multiple selections.
