Hannah Barry Memorial Award Guidelines

Applicants must be a current Undergraduate student at the University of Melbourne, including those in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.

The current Undergraduate student at the University of Melbourne must be in good standing

The applicant’s creative work must be based in the performing arts (any one or more of the performing arts)

The project/activity cannot be completed when applying for award funds. Funds will only be awarded to an activity in progress or yet to commence.

The general definition of the Performing Arts for the purpose of the guidelines, is as follows, but not limited to:

as a time-based art form, that features a live presentation to an audience, or onlookers.

• A stage work (theatre) or musical, dance, ballet. a production, playwriting, monologues, spoken word poetry, puppetry circus arts, improvisational theatre, stand up, cabaret, installation-based performance etc.
• Dance: Rhythmic or choreographed body movements, mime, circus, including ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary styles including non-stage-based works, street, roving, etc. A dance performance, concert or musical theatre without theatrical staging etc.
• Music: Vocal and instrumental performances producing acoustic compositions and symphonies, such as Opera, concert performance. The reading, recitation or delivery of a literary work, or part of such a work, or the recitation or delivery of an improvised literary work etc.

Acquittal Report:

• An project (including receipts) SmartyGrants form available to the Applicant requesting full expenditure and project evidence is required . This must be completed at the conclusion of your project (refer to Guidelines).
• The  Trustee is requested to be invited to any public outcomes
