Marialena

I was a Student Peer Leader during 2017-2018, focused on Employability services and workshops/events.

At the time, I was studying for a Master of Science in Bioinformatics and conducting research at the Bio21 Institute, focusing on unravelling antibiotic resistance in infectious diseases using computational biology and AI models.

After completing my degree I began a 5.5-year career journey at a Big 4 Management Consulting firm in Melbourne, which included a transfer to a role in Switzerland in 2024. I recently transitioned out of consulting into a sales role and now work as a Business Account Manager for a Swiss software company, providing software solutions to biopharma for data analysis and workflow automation in drug R&D.

The SPLN role helped establish the foundation of professional, interpersonal and other soft skills – not to mention job-seeking skills – that paved the way for my first full-time professional job in management consulting, ultimately shaping the professional I am today.

Among other things, the SPLN role taught me to learn to work in a structured fashion, within deadlines and clear lines of governance and reporting internally.

Thank you SPLN for these invaluable skills!
