What made you want to become a Student Peer Leader?
I’ve always enjoyed meeting new students, and as an international student myself, I understand how daunting it can feel to arrive in a new country and navigate a different education and career system. As this was my first job in Australia, it felt especially meaningful to continue the kind of support I had previously offered as a Peer Mentor. In this role, I hope to help students better understand the opportunities available to them and feel more confident in their own pathway.
What’s one moment as a peer leader that made you realise the impact of the role?
Every day in this role reminds me how meaningful peer support can be. I once spoke with a student who was clearly skilled and passionate, but she was undervaluing her previous experience. What began as a conversation about her application turned into a broader discussion about confidence and how we see ourselves, not just what we put on paper. That simple conversation showed me that sometimes students just need a small boost in confidence to make a lasting difference in how they move forward.
In one sentence, what would you say to a student thinking about using SPLN services?
Whether a student is just getting started or preparing for their next step, SPLN offers support that can meet them where they are in their study and career journey.
At the end of the day, many students are looking for support as they prepare for what comes next. Our services are here to help, whether that means getting a professional photo for LinkedIn or building a strong resume and cover letter for a dream role.
