How to view your class timetable

Once class sorting and allocation is completed, you will receive your class timetable via your student email account.

Please note:

  • Melbourne Medical School does not use MyTimetable. Your school will handle the timetable process.
  • Melbourne Business School does not use MyTimetable. For class scheduling, check your Student Community page on Canvas.

Viewing your class timetable

Learn how to view your class timetable, using filters to view important class details and alerts. You can do this on desktop or mobile.

    1. Log in to MyTimetable
    2. Click on the Timetable tab to view your allocated classes
    3. Use the week or day view to see your timetable as a calendar.

    You can also:

    • Filter your view to show certain classes, workgroups, or study periods
    • View multiple weeks at once using the timetable weeks slider or dropdown menu
    • Navigate between weeks by turning the summary toggle off
    • Turn the summary toggle on to view a summary of your classes on the right-hand side.
    1. Log in to MyTimetable
    2. Click on the Timetable tab to view your allocated classes
    3. Use the week or day view to see your timetable as a calendar.

    Mobile Menu

    • On mobile, the right-hand navigation bar is replaced with a hamburger menu (☰)
    • Tap the hamburger icon to open the menu
    • If your screen is small, the menu will be scrollable, swipe up or down to view all items.

    Mobile dashboard

    • Dashboard messages appear at the top, scroll down to read the full message
    • The dashboard shows your next five upcoming events
    • Keep scrolling to view action required and upcoming events
    • To view more, tap View more and check the full timetable list.

    Mobile Timetable

    The timetable view is simplified for smaller screens:

    • Grid and list views are displayed as text tabs instead of icons
    • The summary toggle becomes a calendar icon:
      • When it’s not highlighted, the summary view is off
      • When on, you’ll see the summary of classes
    • The allocations pane is not available when the summary toggle is off
    • Filters appear as filter icons with badges showing the number of active filters
    • You can add events by tapping the blue plus (+) icon, filling in the required fields, and saving
    • The event will then appear on your timetable
    • Tap on any allocated class in the timetable grid to view more details, such as location
    • Details will also be highlighted in the allocation pane at the bottom.

Important alerts

Keep an eye on in-system alerts, these may require action or contain essential class information.

Where to view alerts in MyTimetable:
  • Right-hand panel, under the subject and class type. You need to click on the subject to view the messages, click on View more for the full message.
  • Pop-up alerts on the calendar view. This shows up in the bottom left hand corner.
  • Within the class details. This will show specific notes (for example, which instruments are used in a music class, where to access Zoom links).
  • On the alerts tab. You will be notified if there are any changes to your class details such as day, time or location.

Find more information about your classes

  • In the Enrolment tab, you can view a list of your current enrolments. You can filter this list by:

    • Subject Code
    • Semester
    • Campus
    • Year.

    You can find a link to the Handbook next to each subject.

  • In the timetable tab, click View more on a class to see full details including:

    • Class time and location
    • Number of students
    • Format (for example, lecture, tutorial, or practical)
    • Whether it’s a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) class
    • Look out for the chair icon, it shows how many places remain in the class.
  • You can check if a lecture is clashable in the timetable tab by looking for the overlapping circle icon. Clashable classes will also say “Lecture Recording” on the class block.

  • Some classes are scheduled over multiple days and times. Two or more classes may combine into one stream.

    You must attend all parts of a multipart class.

    To view your full class details, use the expanded class view.

    Example: MAST10007

    Lectures are split over three days:

    • Lecture 1 on Monday
    • Lecture 2 on Wednesday
    • Lecture 3 on Friday
  • If your class timetable is subscribed but not showing correctly, try these steps:

    • Remove the class timetable from your personal calendar. Then, re-subscribe to it using MyTimetable
    • Use a desktop version of Google Chrome in an Incognito window to subscribe to your class timetable
    • Refresh your personal calendar to ensure that the class timetable information is up to date.

    Close your personal calendar app and restart your device. If the troubleshooting steps don’t work, please reach out to Student IT.

Do more with your class timetable

You can connect you class timetable with friends and schedule events to appear on each other's class timetables. You can also view it in a different time zone or add it to another calendar.

  • You can connect with friends to share your timetables with each other.

    Follow these steps to invite a friend to view your timetable:

    1. Go to connections tab
    2. Enter your friend's student ID and press enter
    3. You will get a notification that the connections request has been sent.

    To accept a request to connect your timetable with a friend, follow these steps:

    • Click on the Connections tab to view all requests
    • Accept the request
    • Click view timetable to view any timetables shared with you.

    Important information:

    • All shared timetables will be displayed in grey
    • You can delete a connection at any time in the connections tab
    • Shared timetables can be filtered through the filter function.
  • You can create events in MyTimetable to schedule study groups with classmates. You will need to connect your timetables before inviting them to an event using MyTimetable.

    1. Go to the timetable tab
    2. Click Create events button next to the timetable title
    3. Enter event details
      • Title of your event
      • Location where the event will take place
      • Date and time
      • Set the start date
      • Choose the start and end time for the event
    4. Select occurances, how many times this event should occur (for example, repeat weekly for 3 weeks)
    5. Select Invitees who you'd like to invite to the event
    6. Save the event
    7. The event will now appear on your timetable in a different colour
    8. Events also appear on your upcoming events list.
    1. Log into MyTimetable.
    2. Use the dropdown from the time zone on your dashboard to select from the time zone listed.

    Time zone selection is available in the plan, preference and timetable tabs. Please refresh your browser after selecting a different time zone for the changes to apply.

    1. Use the subscribe to your timetable URL on the settings tab on the left-hand side
    2. Set the calendar to refresh at regular intervals so that you see your current timetable.
  • You can print your timetable from the plan, preference and timetable tabs:

    1. Click on the print icon on the bottom right-hand corner
    2. A print dialogue window will appear
    3. Change your printer setting if required and click print.

    Recommended print browsers

    For the best printing experience, we recommend using Chrome or Firefox. Safari may also work on a laptop or desktop; however, its security features can limit printing.
