Airport pickup service

The University offers an airport pickup service for new international students.

This service is provided free of charge by the University. It is operated by Hughes-Australia’s Chauffeur Service, who will take you from Melbourne Airport to your accommodation.

Eligibility

To be eligible for airport pickup, you must be:

  • An international student
  • New to Melbourne
  • Commencing your studies in 2024.

How and when to book

To use this service, you must book at least four calendar days before your departure date.

After booking, you will receive a confirmation email from Hughes-Australia’s Chauffeur Service at your University email account.

Frequently asked questions

  • What happens if my flight is delayed?

    Hughes-Australia’s Chauffeur Service monitors all flights and will know when your flight is delayed.  They will adjust your pickup time to your arrival at Melbourne Airport.

  • What should I do if I don’t board my flight, or it is cancelled?

    You should contact Hughes-Australia’s Chauffeur Service on:

    • 1300 615 165 (if calling from Australia)

    • res@hughes.com.au.
    • Using the 'Manage your Booking' feature in your confirmation email.
  • How much luggage am I allowed for the airport pick up service?

    You are allowed:

    • One large check-in item
    • One smaller carry-on item.

    Any additional luggage will be charged at $15 per item.

  • I am travelling with a member of my family; can they be picked up?

    Family members will be picked up. You need to confirm their details when booking.

  • How do I find the pick-up service at the international terminal?

    Once you have passed through customs you will exit from Gate A or B. The Hughes Chauffeurs are situated between the Optus Mobile Store and Hudson’s Coffee.

  • How do I find the airport pick up service if I arrive at arrive at a domestic terminal? (1, 3 or 4)

    Terminal 1:

    • For Gates 1-12: Go left from the escalators. Chauffeurs can be found next to the car rental area and in front of Baggage Carousel 1.
    • For gates 13-24: Chauffeurs can be found in front of Baggage Carousel 4.

    Terminal 3

    Chauffeurs can be found at the bottom of the Virgin escalators.

    Terminal 4

    Chauffeurs wait at the exit door after baggage collection.

  • How long will I have to wait to be picked up?

    You will be picked up 45 minutes from your arrival time. Please do not leave the international arrivals area as this may delay your transport.
