The University of Melbourne offers a free airport pickup service to interstate and international students who are arriving into Melbourne for the first time.
You must register for airport pickup at least three business days before your departure date. You will need to arrange your own transport if you apply after this time.
Airport pickup will be unavailable on:
- Christmas Day (December 25)
- Boxing Day (December 26)
- and from 16:00 December 31, 2022 to 08:00 January 1, 2023.
Airport pickup is available to new international and interstate students arriving at Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine). When you have booked your flights, apply for your pickup service at least three days before your departure date. A University representative will meet you at the airport and take you directly to your accommodation.
This is a free service from the airport to the CBD (Central Business District), Parkville and surrounding areas.
Fees will apply if:
- you are travelling to further areas than those listed above
- there are additional passengers (your family members or anyone who is not a University of Melbourne student) - $40 per person
- you requested airport pickup, but do not use it on arrival
You will be informed of any additional costs by email once we receive your application.
To be eligible for the airport pickup service, you must:
- be an interstate, international, or Study Abroad and Exchange student arriving into Melbourne for the first time
- have an unconditional offer to study with us
- have not used the service previously
- apply for airport pickup at least three business days (Monday to Friday, Melbourne time, AEDT/AEST) prior to your departure date. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate late applications.
How and when to apply
Airport pickup runs 24-hours per day from Melbourne Tullamarine Airport to the University and surrounding areas, and is provided by TOGOTO Pty Ltd. You will need to apply at least three business days before your departure date. For example, if your flight is on a Tuesday, you will need to apply the Thursday prior. Once you’ve booked with us, you’ll receive a confirmation email within 72 hours which contains instructions for your arrival at the airport. If you apply within 3 business days of your departure date you will not be eligible.
TOGOTO allows a maximum of 46kgs of luggage, or two pieces of standard luggage, and one carry-on. There’s no additional fee for larger luggage, but TOGOGO may ask you to wait for the next shuttle or refuse your service if you have excess baggage. If you know you’ll be traveling with over 46kgs of luggage, please indicate the approximate weight of your luggage in the ‘Special Requirements’ section of your application.
TOGOTO cannot accommodate boxes, bikes, surfboards, golf equipment, or other large items.
Travel outside the university area
Although this is a free service, travel to areas outside of the University and surrounding suburbs will incur additional costs. These costs depend on the distance of your destination from the University. To find out the cost of your travel:

Night time arrivals
Airport pickup is a 24-hour service. Please make sure that you have made accommodation arrangements before booking your airport pickup. If you are arriving overnight, ask your accommodation provider if they provide a 24-hour reception before you confirm your booking.
Changes to your booking
You may need to amend your booking due to changes in your flight. All booking changes can be made through the link in your confirmation email.
Before you travel
All changes must be made online, using the form provided in your confirmation email. Please include all the details of your change, including your flight number, arrival time, and destination address. Changes cannot be processed without the full details of your arrival. If you haven’t received your email within 72 hours, check your junk folder, and if you’re still having trouble, contact us.
TOGOTO monitors all flights, so they will be aware if your flights are late or delayed. However, if your flight details change in transit (e.g. if you miss your flight and book onto another one), you need to contact TOGOTO or call on +61 409 503 646 and let them know of your new flight number, arrival date and time.
Cancelling your booking
All cancellations can be made through the alteration form in your confirmation email. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance of your original arrival time. There is no cancellation fee.
