About Pre-Departure Briefing sessions
The Pre-departure Briefing sessions are designed to help international students prepare to arrive in Melbourne for study.
What to expect
During the session, you’ll hear from our staff and current students as they share their experiences and useful tips on how to get the most out of your first few weeks at the University of Melbourne.
Across this series, you'll learn about:
- Australia’s lifestyle and weather
- Getting ready for Orientation
- Arrival experience (transport and accommodation)
- Student services (course advice, health services and cover (OSHC) and campus life)
- Navigating the University of Melbourne during your study.
Plus, you'll have the chance to hear from our current students and parents about the benefits of studying at Australia's number one university.

"Attending the University of Melbourne’s pre-departure briefing, organised in Delhi, significantly boosted my confidence and connections. I was able to meet other students from my course and the experiences shared by the alumni on making the most out of my university life were invaluable. Interacting with faculty professors clarified my doubts about my course and the checklists in the presentation helped me in my preparations. The event provided me with a direction and motivation for a new journey ahead."
