Insurance
The University has a range of insurance policies that cover you while you’re undertaking approved University activities, such as attending on-campus lectures, coursework, research or social activities, offsite placements/internships and interstate or overseas travel for exchanges or other University-approved programs.
The three policies most relevant to students are travel, personal accident and public liability insurance.
Travel Insurance
If you are travelling as part of your course requirements, such as for a student placement, overseas exchange, Graduate Research fieldwork or other program, you will be covered by the University’s travel insurance.
Personal Accident Insurance
If you’re injured while on campus or while participating in approved University activities off-campus, including training or competing with an MU Sport club, the University’s personal accident insurance may be able to cover some of your injury treatment costs.
Public Liability Insurance
Your actions as a student are covered by the University’s public liability insurance, if you are found to be legally liable for causing bodily injury or property damage to a third party while you’re undertaking University-related activities. For more information please contact either Stop 1 or the Insurance Office.
