  • Conferral: The Conferral is the date your course is officially complete, and you become a graduate of The University of Melbourne. Your conferral date is listed on your official Graduation documentation. This process takes place before the Graduation ceremony and occurs automatically on set dates. You won't be able to attend a Graduation ceremony unless you have been officially conferred.

Graduation Ceremony: The Graduation ceremony is the date the University holds a public celebration of the successful completion of your course. It marks a significant milestone in your academic journey, providing you with an opportunity to celebrate with your friends, family and peers.

  • After you complete your course and receive your conferral, you will receive a digital version of your testamur (graduation certificate) via My eQuals within 24 hours of your conferral date.

You will then receive the hard-copy version of your testamur via post - this will be mailed to your preferred mailing address in my.unimelb in the month following your conferral. However, if your degree has been conferred on the date directly prior to a graduation ceremony round, you can collect your physical testamur at your graduation ceremony if you choose to attend. If you do not attend your graduation ceremony, or choose to postpone your attendance at a ceremony, your hard-copy testamur will be sent to you in the mail in the month after the ceremony round. Please note, it is not possible to keep your testamur for collection at a later ceremony.

When you complete your course, you'll also receive digital copies of your Academic Transcript and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS). These will also be uploaded to your My eQuals account.

Lastly, if you require a letter to further confirm you’ve successfully completed your course, you can also order an Evidence of Qualification letter.
