In the Global Learning team we hire S@W interns who have participated in overseas study programs as part of their degree. They can therefore provide a unique perspective on the student experience at Melbourne as it relates to the specific programs we offer.

We have found the S@W intern program so valuable to our work in Global Learning. Our interns have gone on to be PhD candidates at Melbourne, applied for further overseas study programs, completed postgraduate degrees and been hired by our team in fixed term roles at the completion of their internship. It's such a valuable program which improves the employability of our students and allows us to understand the student experience at Melbourne through a new lens.

Projects that interns are involved with:

Our interns assist in our student facing services offered through Stop 1 and manage our tier 1 enquiries. We also ask our interns to review student facing websites, documents and processes to ensure they make sense to our various audiences. Our interns become very much a part of our team, working across all of our programs, participating in teams meetings, planning and social activities.

Advice for Hiring Managers:

Take the time to invest in training, ask lots of questions and provide an environment where your intern feels comfortable to suggest improvements to your programs/way of work.
