There are many exciting casual opportunities for students on campus. Opportunities include professional and service roles in customer service, events, marketing, administration and business support in various faculties and divisions across the University.

About working on campus

Casual opportunities appear on an as-needs basis and range from one-off opportunities to extended contracts. The length of each opportunity will be listed in the position description or job advertisement.

How to apply

New opportunities are advertised on Careers Online. The peak recruitment time for most casual roles is before the beginning of each semester, but roles can appear at other times during the year.

The application process will depend on the role. Generally, you will be asked to submit a written application (resume and cover letter), and some roles require you to answer key selection criteria. Others might involve attendance at an Assessment Centre or a one-to-one interview.

Full time students: It’s recommended that full-time students do not work more than 21 hours per week.

International students: It’s your responsibility to understand your Student Visa conditions and keep up with any updates from the Department of Home Affairs regarding your work rights.

Graduates: If you’ve completed your course then you will need to apply for the available positions through our external recruitment portal.

Once you've worked on campus, you're eligible to register for our Job Ready Pool.

Students registered to this pool are considered “job ready” as they've had experience working for the University. Short-notice jobs on campus will be promoted exclusively to this pool.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have worked at the University previously
  • Be a current student
