Club Connection Grants

The Office of the Provost will be inviting proposals for Club Connection Grants. Course-related University of Melbourne Clubs and Societies can apply for funding to deliver student experience initiatives that respond to the Advancing Students and Education (ASE) strategy commitment to:

Partner with students to design and implement student-led initiatives that improve commencing undergraduate’s transition to University

This commitment speaks to the strategic advancement to redefine the first-year undergraduate experience. Recognising how critical it is for commencing undergraduate students to transition well into university life, the first-year experience will be infused with more opportunities for students to connect with peers and develop a sense of belonging within their discipline.

The Club Connection Grants aim to encourage the design and delivery of student-led initiatives that focus on improving undergraduate student transition to university life. The Office of the Provost will provide seed funding to course-related student clubs and societies that are affiliated with UMSU for additional activities and programs that enable a successful first-year transition experience for undergraduate students at the University of Melbourne. In 2024, initiatives funded under the Club Connection Grants will align with one or more of the following objectives:

  1. Enhance commencing undergraduate students’ sense of connection and belonging to the University and their discipline by providing more student-led opportunities for students to connect with peers and staff
  2. Orientate first-year undergraduate students to the culture, community, services, and the unique experiences of campus life within their degree
  3. Create additional integrated opportunities for first-year students to build ongoing connections with peers and staff members associated with their undergraduate studies.

Grants of up to $4,000 will be available per each successful application. Please note, clubs and societies are only allowed to submit one application each.
