Passengers disembarking from a green and white Melbourne tram

Public transport

Public transport is a great way to get to and from campus. Melbourne has the world's largest tram network and an extensive system of trains and buses.

Public transport in Victoria will be half price for all passengers until 1 January 2027. The 50% discount will apply to full fare as well as concession passengers.

Construction outside Stop 1 Parkville
Road closures will happen on Swanston Street and Grattan Street from Thursday 2 July until Friday 31 July. Workers will redirect pedestrians and vehicles away from the worksite as needed. Allow more time to get to campus.

Purchase your ticket

Your myki card is your ticket to travel on trains, tram and buses in Melbourne and some areas of regional Victoria. Visit the Public Transport Victoria website for information about how to buy and top-up a myki.

Travel in free zones

You can travel free of charge within the Free Tram Zone, however, as none of the University's campuses fall within this zone, you must always touch on your myki when you board.

Please note: Students who are eligible can download the PTV transport concession forms for semester 2, 2026. They will be available on Wednesday 1 July, 2026.
