About Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is an official document issued by the University that confirms your course details and expected end date. It is used by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) when assessing student visa applications.
Who should request a CoE
You don’t need to request a CoE if you’re a commencing student, it will be issued to you after you accept your offer and complete your Student Acceptance and Payment Agreement. See Get Started at Melbourne for more information.
Current students only need to request a CoE in specific circumstances, including if:
- Your visa has been cancelled
- You have failed subjects in your final half year of study
- You currently hold a non-student visa and need a CoE to apply for a student visa.
Current students don't need to submit a request following an approved enrolment change, which includes:
- A Reduced Study Load (RSL)
- A Leave of Absence (for compassionate or compelling reasons)
- Late withdrawal
- Unsatisfactory academic progress.
The University will automatically issue a revised CoE for these approved changes. Where applicable, a new CoE will be issued before your current visa expires.
You can also use the form to request a resend of your CoE if you need another copy.
Apply for a new CoE
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a CoE will be issued. Requests are assessed based on your enrolment status and academic progression, and prioritised based on how close you are to your current visa expiry date.
