  • You can follow the steps on the change to personal details webpage to:

    • Notify the University of a change to your legal name
    • Make any corrections to your name (spelling or order) or date of birth
    • Add or update your preferred given name
    • Update your personal identifiers (title, gender identifier, or pronouns.

    Please ensure you supply the required documentation when requesting a change to your personal details.

  • You can update your legal details in person at Stop 1 Parkville during opening hours. Just join the admin and general enquiry drop in queue. During busy periods, wait times may occur to speak with an advisor.

    Before you attend Stop 1 please make sure:

    • Check your details with the USI office and update your name if needed.
    Important Information
    Please note that we are required to adhere to privacy guidelines and government regulations when updating legal details. If you do not provide the correct documentation or the change you are requesting does not match how your name is recorded with the USI office, we will not be able to update your personal details.

  • If you have received your Australian Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship/New Zealand Citizenship, or would like to correct an error in your recorded citizenship, you must notify the University as soon as possible.

    Please note that a citizenship grant letter is not sufficient evidence of citizenship.

  • Your home address is your permanent address in your country of residence, while your contact address is your address during the University teaching and exam periods.  Update your contact details in my.unimelb.

    1. Login to my.unimelb
    2. Go to User icon > Personal details
    3. Click Manage my details
    4. On the left-hand menu, select Contacts
    5. Choose type of contact
    6. Click Edit
    7. Edit directly in the open (not grey) fields in the system
    8. Click Save.

    If the address you entered in the Find Address field isn’t appearing, this likely means you have entered your address incorrectly. Double check the spelling of your address and if you still can’t make the update, submit an enquiry to Stop 1 with your address details and we will update your address for you.

  • If there is a discrepancy between your personal details (specifically your first given name, family name, or date of birth) with the University and the USI Office, then your USI is unable to be validated. To locate the error:

    1. Check your details in my.unimelb.
    2. Check your details with the USI Office by logging into your account and select Update Personal Details.

    If the error in your personal details is with the University, please submit a Change to Personal Details form with the relevant identification.

    If the error in your personal details is with the USI Office, you can update your details through your USI account, or contact the USI Office for assistance.

  • Once you provide a valid USI, or your personal details have been updated by the University to match those held with the USI Office, your sanction will be lifted within 1-2 business days.
