Advanced Standing

Being awarded Advanced Standing (sometimes known as credit for prior learning) may have an impact on your student visa.

If you have previously completed university subjects relevant to your degree, you may be eligible for Advanced Standing.

Being awarded Advanced Standing after starting your course may change the expected end date of your course.

If your course duration changes due to Advanced Standing, the University is required to inform the Department of Home Affairs and issue a new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) that reflects your new course completion date. This may impact how long you can stay in Australia on your student visa, and your eligibility in meeting the Australian Study Requirement for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).

For more information, refer to our Advanced Standing page and Credit Policy, and the Department of Home Affairs website.
