Applications submitted from 5 August 2026 will be available in the new assessment adjustments system.

About assessment adjustments

Unexpected circumstances can sometimes affect your ability to complete assessments on time. If this happens, there are assessment adjustments available depending on your situation and assessment type.

All assessment adjustments can be applied for using the same application form. The form will guide you through eligible circumstances, supporting document requirements, allow you to submit documents later if they are not ready and to track the progress of your application.

Support options available for assessments

  • Special consideration is available for all assessment types.

    Short extensions and extensions are not available for most scheduled assessment such as exams, tests or quizzes.

  • Most assignments with a submission deadline (‘Submitted Assignments’) allow Short Extensions and Extensions, if you apply by the due date. There are a small number of exceptions that will be published on subject LMS pages.

    If the assignment's due date to submit or undertake an assessment has already passed, the only option available is Special consideration.

  • Special consideration is available for all assessment types.

    Short extensions and extensions are not available for attendance or participation requests.

  • Scheduled assessments are those that need to start on a specific date/time, not those that can be worked on until a due date/time. Short extensions and extensions are not available for most scheduled assessments such as practical exams, presentations and performances. These include assessments that are linked to scheduled assessments such as those with written components.

    Special consideration is available for all assessment types.
