Outcomes
Find out what happens after you apply, how to track your application and understand your outcome.
What happens after you submit your application
We will review your application and supporting documents to determine whether you're eligible for an assessment request separately.
If your application includes more than one assessment, we'll review each assessment separately.
If your application is eligible, we'll determine the most appropriate adjustment. In some cases, we may need to consult with your faculty or Subject Coordinator before making a decision.
Where the documents provided do not support your request, further information may be sought or your application may be deemed ineligible.

Track your application
You can track your application's progress as we assess your eligibility and decide your support outcome(s).
Requesting further adjustments
If your circumstances change or your current adjustment is not sufficient, you can request a further adjustment. Additional supporting documentation may be required.
-
All further extension requests will need supporting documents. If the faculty allows a Statement of Impact, this can be used for your request provided:
- Both your original and any subsequent requests were made by the due date, and
- Your requested due date is within the maximum days the faculty offers, calculated from the original assessment due date.
For example, if your faculty allows 14 days with a Statement of Impact and you have already received 3, you can request up to 11 further days with a Statement of Impact.
-
Further special consideration means applying for additional or different adjustments for an assessment which you have already received special consideration in. For example:
- You are unable to attend your special exam
- You require a further extension beyond what was provided by special consideration.
Further special consideration is only approved in exceptional circumstances, such as:- Hospitalisation
- Severe trauma
- Close personal or family bereavement.
You can apply using the special consideration application process. Your documentation will need to show a significant impact on you ability to complete your assessment.
Withdrawing your outcome
If you no longer require your adjustment(s), you can withdraw them by submitting either a:
- Special exam decline request (for exams)
- Special consideration outcome withdrawal request (for all other assessments).
For re-weightings, exemptions and late withdrawals you must do this within five business days of being notified of the decision. For all other adjustments, you must do this by the revised assessment date or deadline.
If this is the final assessment in your subject, your final mark will not be available until you either complete your assessment or until the deadline for withdrawing has passed. If you choose not to undertake your special assessment, you are encouraged to withdraw your request early. More information on how this process impacts your results and graduation is on the Special and Supplementary Exams page.
Requesting a review of your outcome
You can request a review of the decision made on your special consideration or extension application if you disagree with either its eligibility or the adjustment provided. Learn more about requesting a review on the Reviews webpage.
