Fee due dates
Find out when your fees are due and other important fee dates.
When to pay
When making a mandatory fee payment, you must pay by its due date, not the census date.
Your fee due dates are on your Student Invoice and Statement of Liability.
For optional fees, you can choose to pay by the census/incurral date or incur the fee as debt via a HELP loan.
Due dates
The 2026 fee due dates listed here apply unless you are paying by dual instalment. They are listed by study period.
Use these dates to plan when you need to pay your fees. Check your fee statements and invoices to confirm the due dates that apply to you.

If your payment due date says 'immediately' on your statement or invoice, the original due date has passed.
You must pay:
- Student contribution amounts (Commonwealth supported place students) within three days of the invoice issue date.
- Full-fee amounts (international and domestic full fee-paying students) within seven days of the invoice issue date.
Check your fee due dates
Access your fee statements and invoices on the my.unimelb student portal to confirm when your fees are due.
Go to Student admin > Fees > Access fee statements or Access my Student Invoice.
Plan ahead for your payments
When you make changes to your enrolment, your fee due dates may change. Check your Statement of Liability after making changes to see your fees and upcoming due dates.
You will receive a Student Invoice when you have fees due for payment within the following 4–5 weeks.
We’ll email you when its issued, so check your student email regularly. Your Student Invoice is your only reminder before the due date.

Understand date types
You may see these date columns on your statements and invoices. Understand what they mean and the actions you need to take before each date.
Payment deadline
This is the deadline to pay mandatory fees.
Before the due date you should:
- Pay mandatory fees
- Apply for a fee date extension if needed.
Fee due dates occur before census dates. Make sure you check your fee due date on your statements to know when to pay your fees.
Enrolment deadline
The census date is the deadline to make enrolment changes before your fee becomes non-refundable.
It is also the deadline to apply for HELP loans if eligible.
Each subject has its own census date. Take action before your earliest census date.
Before the census date you can:
- Defer fees with a HELP loan
If you are eligible for a government HELP loan, submit the loan application before the census date to defer your fees.
If you don’t pay your student contribution upfront or apply for a HELP loan before the subject's census date, your enrolment in the subject will be cancelled. This deadline is set by the government.
- Withdraw from a subject to avoid fees
Once a census date passes, you are locked in to paying the cost of the subject, and it will appear on your academic transcript. If you change your mind and want to withdraw from a subject or apply for a leave of absence, do so before the census date for your fee charge to be cancelled.
- Pay your optional fees
If you have applied for a HELP loan but still wish to make an upfront payment, you have until the census date to pay. After that, you incur the fees as HELP debt.
Loan milestone
This is the date you officially incur debt if you deferred the SSAF fee to SA-HELP.
Before the incurral date you can:
- Pay your optional fees
If you have deferred the SSAF fee to SA-HELP but still wish to make an upfront payment, you have until the incurral date to pay. After that, you incur the SSAF fee as SA-HELP debt.
