Arts and Cultural Building

The Arts and Cultural Building takes centre stage!

Opening in July 2022, just in time for semester 2, the new Arts and Cultural Building is a vibrant cultural hub for students in the heart of the Parkville campus.

A world-class new home for the University’s iconic Union and Guild Theatres and UMSU’s George Paton Gallery and Arts Lab, the Arts and Cultural Building also boasts an array of informal study spaces and buzzing food outlets.

The Arts and Cultural Building celebrates the University’s rich cultural history from the ground up, with artworks cleverly embedded within the building’s structure and form, including works by Bardi Jawi and Karajarri Elder and VCA alumna, Dr Ngardarb Riches.

The Arts and Cultural Building is on track to receive a 6-Star Green Star building accreditation, reflecting the University’s commitment to sustainability leadership across all its built environments and campus operations.

The Student Precinct Project will be completed at the end of 2022, encompassing two new and five fully refurbished buildings plus extensive landscaping, and will have a transformative impact on student experience for decades to come.
