ERC Library

The ERC Library, a notable example of late 1960s Brutalist architecture, was the second building to be completed as part of the Student Precinct Project.

The refurbished ERC Library features the print book collection, a variety of informal study spaces, bookable project rooms and computers for students.

The library is now an accessible and inclusive space for all staff and students, with lift access to every floor and two assistive technology learning rooms. All-gender and accessible toilets are also available throughout the building as well as two bookable chill-out pods to provide a reflection and respite space for students.

The site’s strong Indigenous creek narrative is continued throughout ERC Library, featured in the library’s ground floor design via ‘creek-let’ inspired seating. Through their unique shape and colour, these seats trace the original watercourse that once traversed the site, connecting the ERC Library to Country. The library’s upper-level carpet designs also reflect the local Indigenous flora, fauna and cultures.
